Eminent Speaker Program by

IIST Student Chapter and Department of Computer Science & Engineering has successfully conducted Eminent Speaker program under the umbrella of ACM Student Chapter. The speaker of the event was Prof. Anirban Sengupta from IIT, Indore. The topic of the program was “Time Bomb (Trojan Attack) on Computer Hardware and Machine Learning Accelerators”. During the talk, prof. Sengupta has highlighted the key issues of hardware driven attacks. The key points of the talk included brief introduction of Machine Learning Algorithms.ML /hardware accelerators, security vulnerabilities in ML/hardware accelerators and types of Trojan attacks. After the insightful talk, there was Q&A session, during the session students enthusiastically asked questions to the speaker.

It was a great session, to know about Machine Learning algorithms. How they impact on security vulnerabilities and type of possible attacks on the hardware. We started exploring more on hardware vulnerabilities and how to handle it.

It is a great initiative by ACM India council. The session should contain some hands on or practical session so that students can get in depth detail of any specific topic.
